Jonah Berger and His Family are Dancing for Down Syndrome

A regular at GiGi’s Playhouse NYC’s Brooklyn Satellite programs over the last few years, Jonah Berger is leading the way in our Dancing for Down Syndrome Fundraiser. To date, the have raised $5,166, which will support GiGi’s Playhouse Brooklyn.

A note from Jonah’s family:

”Friends, 

For those of you wondering what we do on our Saturday’s, most of them have been spent at GiGi’s Playhouse in Brooklyn. 

GiGi’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. They offer free therapeutic and educational programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. 

We have been going to GiGi’s for probably 5 years.   They’ve brought us a community to connect to and a totally judgement free place for Jonah to play and develop.  We have made friends and we have shared, and had shared with us, stories, concerns, incredibly necessary knowledge and both hard and joyful moments. I don’t know where we would be without GiGi’s, their amazing team and always enthusiastic volunteers (which there are ALWAYS so many of). 

Down syndrome is not a simple thing. It comes with other health, behavioral and developmental issues. It also comes with political and bureaucratic navigation which is overwhelming. We are so grateful to have a community to help guide us and to help guide. GiGi’s has always been the place where those needed awarenesses have started. 

We have a Brooklyn Chapter and this is the first time that we can fund specifically for that. And Jonah loves to dance so a danceathon is a perfect fundraiser. Please join us in continuing GiGi’s amazing work benefiting families like ours.
