Meet the Board: Matt Otte

We are excited to spotlight Matt Otte, who recently joined our Board of Directors. Please join us in giving Matt a warm GiGi’s NYC welcome to our community!

  • How and when did you first get involved with GiGi’s NYC?
    • I just recently joined the board at GiGi’s NYC in August of 2021. Over the pandemic, seeing so many members of the community struggle with various issues, I was just seeking opportunities to lend a hand and make, hopefully, a positive difference to those in our community.
  • Why did you decide to join the Board of Directors?
    • I love that GiGi’s Playhouse NYC is an achievement center and it aims to provide the tools and support for individuals with Down syndrome to achieve their goals and be embraced by the broader community. Acceptance is such an important message and GiGi’s is doing a great job of spreading that message.
  • What does GiGi’s NYC mean to you?
    • GiGi’s NYC means opportunity. Opportunity to embrace the community, encourage acceptance, as well as an opportunity to learn and grow as a human.
  • What is your favorite thing about the GiGi’s NYC community?
    • I am still fairly new to the community but so far, I am really excited about the enthusiasm everyone shows up with every day. It’s an exciting place to be a part of and I’m happy to be involved.
  • How do you enjoy spending your free time?
    • I spend time with my kids Paxton and Remy playing soccer, swimming and relaxing with friends and family. If I can get away for a bit, I also like to get down to the beach to surf and just enjoy the ocean.

Matt, we are incredibly appreciative of the hard work and dedication you put into your new role on our Board of Directors. GiGi’s NYC has gained a valuable asset and a wonderful community member. Thank you for your time and enthusiasm in advancing the lives of our community members with Down syndrome!
