Blog Series: Words of Wisdom

There are a couple of holidays in the month of December, including: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, New Year’s Eve, National Hero Day, and National Chocolate Candy Day. The holidays are about getting together with your loved ones, including your boyfriend, during the winter time.Christmas Eve is on Saturday, December 24th, and Christmas Day is on Sunday, December 25th. The Christmas holiday is the celebration of Jesus Christ and love. Many people have a lot of traditions during the Christmas season. For example, it is common to exchange gifts, decorate Christmas trees, attend church, share meals with family and friends, wait for Santa Claus to arrive, take pictures with Santa as a family, get dressed up, and watch holiday movies while enjoying cookies with milk.My favorite Christmas traditions are spending time with loved ones, decorating the house with the family, exchanging gifts with them near the Christmas tree, and having hot chocolate and holiday cookies as a family. This year, I’m also looking forward to several new Christmas traditions. These include dinner in Times Square as a family, making holiday cookies for homeless individuals, baking extra cookies for Santa Claus, seeing the neighborhood Christmas decorations as a family and enjoying a late dinner afterwards, singing Christmas carols to people in the community, making presents for others that don’t have anything, seeing the Radio City Rockettes with my family, taking a family photo with Santa Claus, mailing Christmas cards, and seeing the Dyker Heights Christmas lights as a family.New Year’s Eve is on Saturday, December 31st, and a lot of people do different things, including staying up until midnight and watching the Times Square ball drop either in person or on T.V., having dinner as a family, going out with friends, and sleeping late the next morning. It is the most important day to start making resolutions for the new year to achieve better things in the world.I have a lot of resolutions to achieve next year. They include eating more vegetables and salads with meals, crossing the street on my own, spending more quality time with my boyfriend, Peter, and helpers, Eros and Laura, having a very clean house, eating more protein and fresh fruit, traveling independently by taking the city bus, doing more exercise and yoga everyday, cooking for my family and boyfriend, going to GiGi’s Playhouse NYC more often, and beginning to learn Greek, Italian, and Spanish.National Hero Day is on Tuesday, December 29th. This holiday honors all the important people in our lives that we admire and who inspire us to be the best person we can possibly be. On this day, a lot of people donate blood, volunteer, or give to a charity that serve those in need. What are your holiday traditions this year? What are the holidays all about to you? Also, what are your resolutions for 2023? I’d love to know in the comments section below.Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year filled with love, joy, and fun.See you in January 2023!Love,Fatima
