A Wonderful Night Out at the Theater with Our Achievers!

On November 13th, our Achievers and their families enjoyed an unforgettable night out at Footloose: Youth Edition at the Westwego Performing Arts Theater! This special outing was made possible through the Chrysalis Program, offered by the Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS), which provides complimentary theatre experiences for special-needs adults and seniors.

The Chrysalis Program welcomes guests to attend performances during dress rehearsals, creating a less crowded, more relaxed environment than traditional public showings. This thoughtful setup ensures a welcoming, sensory-friendly atmosphere where everyone can enjoy live theatre comfortably. To make the evening even sweeter, everyone in the Chrysalis audience—including our Achievers—received complimentary popcorn and water!

From the moment we arrived, the energy was buzzing! The staff greeted our Achievers with big smiles, and the excitement in the theater was contagious. The performance was full of talent, music, and dancing that kept our group engaged from start to finish. Many of our participants danced along in their seats, cheered for the cast, and celebrated each musical number with pure joy.

Outings like this are a meaningful part of the Achievers program. They give participants the chance to explore the arts, enjoy new experiences, and feel connected to the broader New Orleans community. They also provide families valuable time together, the opportunity to connect with other Playhouse families, and a supportive space to celebrate their loved ones.

We are deeply grateful to JPAS, the Chrysalis Program, and the Westwego Performing Arts Theater for hosting us and for their commitment to inclusive arts. Our Achievers are still talking about the experience—and we can’t wait for the next adventure!
