Volunteering for the CCC on behalf of GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans

One of the best things about having a Run for It team for the CCC10K is that GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans can spread the message of acceptance at a high-profile event in our community, all while raising funds to support the FREE educational and therapeutic-based enrichment programs offered EVERY WEEK at our Down Syndrome Achievement Center!

We would not be able to do it without the support of GiGi’s community of volunteers!  Lory, our GiGi’s Playhouse Run for It team captain for the second year in a row, is a volunteer, and she shares below some information about additional volunteer opportunities:

HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO – On Thursday (April 17^th) and Friday (April 18^th) before the race, the CCC hosts the Health & Fitness expo at the Hyatt Regency.

• Volunteers will pass out GiGi’s team T-shirts and swag, help team members sign the team poster that will be displayed at GiGi’s Playhouse, and point team members to where to pick up their CCC race bibs and swag.
• Volunteers talk about GiGi’s Playhouse to race participants from all over the country!
• Volunteers who complete their full shift may request parking reimbursement from GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans.

STARTING LINE: As a Run for It Charity partner, GiGi’s Playhouse has been asked to have volunteers on our behalf at the starting line at Champions Square starting at 5:30am.

• The CCC race organizers host a virtual volunteer for starting line volunteers (date and time TBD)
• Volunteer shift is 5:30am – 8:30am on Saturday, April 19^th
• Minimum age to volunteer alone is 14, unless you have a guardian with you, then there is no minimum age, and the guardian can volunteer, too!
• Volunteers receive free parking at the starting line
• Volunteers receive a volunteer bib which allows them to do the racecourse (no chip time) and/or enter the post-race festival in City Park for free.

FINISH LINE: GiGi’s needs a few volunteers to help set up, host, and take down our tent at the post-race festival.

• Volunteer shift is 6:30am-1:00pm
• GiGi’s volunteers bring in the refreshments, drinks, ice, and remaining team T-shirts & swag to the GiGi’s Playhouse tent/tables set up by the CCC.
• Parking is free at City Park, but GiGi’s has a limited number of volunteer passes. Preference will be given to current and former GiGi’s Playhouse program volunteers.
• If you are interested in volunteering at the post-race festival, please email  neworleans@gigisplayhouse.org with “CCC Volunteering – Finish Line” in the subject line.

CHEER SPOT – New for 2025!

We are considering having a cheer spot along the race route for members of the GiGi’s community to gather.  If transporting and setting up a 10×10 tent and being a DJ for the morning with a group of friends sounds like fun to you, please email neworleans@gigisplayhouse.org with “CCC – Cheer Spot” in the subject.
