Registration for Spring 2021 Programming is Now Open!

Registration for our free summer programming is now open! This summer, we will be offering a programs in-person at our main location in Brentwood as well as at our new satellite location in Sumner County (see website for that separate registration form). We will also be offering a few virtual programs this summer as well! Registration will remain open until May 31st.

We are excited to offer the following programs this summer:

One-on-One Educational Tutoring

  • Literacy (ages 3+): weekly as scheduled with student & tutor
  • Math (ages 3+): weekly as scheduled with student & tutor

Programs Offered In-Person at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville (Brentwood Location)

BUSY BODIES (recommended ages: 0-5) Busy Bodies is the perfect place for children with Down syndrome and friends of all abilities approximately 0-5 years old and their siblings to meet new friends, learn, and grow, while parents have the opportunity to socialize and network with one another. Tuesday’s 9:30am-11:00am on the following dates: 6/8, 6/15, 6/22, 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27

CRAWLERS & WALKERS (recommended ages: 1-5) Focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through activities that are hands-on and fun! Social skills and language development will also be addressed, with a focus on learning new words, following directions and interacting with peers. This program will meet on Saturday’s 10:00am-11:00am on the following dates: 6/5, 7/10, 7/31, 8/7

KIDS CLUB (recommended ages: 6-12) Our Kids Club program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program will also support gross motor skills through active games, fine motor and self-help skills. In June, we will be exploring the outdoors. For all of our June sessions will meet at Pinkerton Park (weather permitting) where will do a variety of fun outdoor activities! In July, we will be back at the playhouse where we will do some fun STEM activities (i.e. hands on science projects). Wednesday’s 4:00-5:00pm on the following dates: 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28

KIDS YOGA (recommended ages: 8-12) Our Yoga program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development, helping participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. Yoga for this age group will take place on Monday’s at 5:00-5:45pm on the following dates: 6/7, 6/21, 7/5, 7/19

TEEN TASTIC (recommended ages: 13-17) Focuses on building social skills with friends without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities. Recommended for ages 13-17-year-olds. This program will meet in person, bi-weekly and virtual on the other weeks. Please register for in-person and virtual Teen-Tastic separately. Wednesday’s 5:00pm-5:45pm on the following dates: 6/9, 6/23, 7/7, 7/21

CROSSFIT (recommended ages: 16+) Our CrossFit program promotes physical fitness and facilitates social interaction and positive peer relationships through purposeful physical activities for adolescents and adults. Our amazing volunteer Program Co-Leaders are Ms. Lauren and Ms. Kaitlyn, who pair participants from GiGi’s with volunteer fitness buddies to complete group workouts together. Fitness activities include: squats, sit-ups, press over head, deadlift, plate ground to overhead, step ups, burpees, rowing, push-ups, lunges, and more! This program is recommended for individuals with Down syndrome 16+ years old and space is limited. PLEASE NOTE: CrossFit meets at “On The End” CrossFit Gym (203 Reidhurst Ave, Nashville, TN 37203). Sunday’s 1:15-2:15pm 6/13, 6/27, 7/11, 7/25

TEEN & ADULT YOGA (recommended ages: 13-18; 18+) Our Yoga program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development, helping participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. Yoga will be led by Miss Elise in June AND Mrs. Danielle in July! Thursday’s 6:30-7:30pm on the following dates: 6/10, 6/17, 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29

FANTASTIC FRIENDS (recommended ages: 18+) A fun night out to facilitate social interactions between adults with Down syndrome, their peers and the community. Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. All adults welcome from ages 18 and up. This program will be led by Amy Goodman, Halle King & Keely White! We are going to try and host some sessions outside of the playhouse this summer (Pinkerton Park, The Factory, etc.) Wednesday’s 6:30-8:00pm on the following dates: 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28

Virtual Programs!

GIGI’S KITCHEN KIDS (recommended ages: 5-12) GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, & food preparation. Participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palette expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. GiGi’s Kitchen program will build participants self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness! This program is recommended for ages 5-12. This program will require the supervision and assistance of a parent/caregiver at all times. Dates/Time are TBD

This program will meet virtually, bi-weekly and in person on the other weeks! Both led by Miss Elise! Please register for in-person and virtual yoga separately. Monday’s from 5:00pm-5:45pm on the following dates: 6/14, 6/28, 7/12, 7/26

GIGIFIT TEENS & ADULTS (recommended ages: 13-18; 18+) GiGiFIT introduces the key movements of foundational , hip strengthening and vestibular/balance exercises, we focus on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more. GiGiFIT incorporates age appropriate activities that teens can be successful with and strengthen their bodies purposefully.​ GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, pushing through barriers and building self-confidence. Saturday’s 10:00am-10:45am on the following dates: 6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/24

YOGA (all ages) Our Yoga program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development, helping participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. Led by Miss Elise! Saturday’s 10:00am-10:45am on the following dates: 6/19, 7/3, 7/17

Programs Offered In-Person at Northfield Church (Gallatin Location)

All of these programs will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Crawlers & Walkers (recommended ages: 0-4) focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through activities that are hands-on and fun! Social skills and language development will also be addressed, with a focus on learning new words, following directions and interacting with peers.

GiGiFIT Kids (recommended ages: 5-12) combines key movements from GiGiFIT Teen and advanced progressions of activities from GiGiFIT Toddler to help improve strength, balance, coordination, peer interaction and to build a lifelong love of physical activity. GiGiFIT Kids is not just purposeful play it is our special work out-time to make you stronger , faster, more coordinated and kids say “I love this fun, structured, purposeful movements”.

GiGIFIT Teens & Adults (recommended ages: 13-18; 18+) Introduces the key movements of foundational, hip strengthening, and vestibular/balance exercises, making them successful to implement and practice at any stage of life!
