We rely on dedicated volunteers of all skill levels to keep our programs vibrant, educational, fun, and, most importantly, FREE for our families. Since the start of the first Playhouse in 2003, parents, family members, clinicians, students and individuals who believe in our mission have played pivotal roles as volunteers in various capacities, including program leadership, events, administrative work, and as board and committee members. At GiGi’s Playhouse, we not only promote the ‘Best of All’ for our participants but also for our volunteers. Training is provided to ensure your success as a volunteer. After signing up as a volunteer, you will receive an e-mail about the next steps in the on-boarding process. All volunteers ages 18+ will be background checked by GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee, at no expense to you. We look forward to meeting you!<\/p>\n\t

Day of event assistants needed as well: help with set-up, clean-up, check-ins, event photography, sales & more!<\/p>\n Program Leaders & Assistants:<\/strong> The Program Leaders play an integral role in facilitating skill development activities and connecting with families. If you have experience working with people with disabilities, or a background in education, rehabilitation therapies, behavioral therapy, social work, special education, music, dance, art or a related field – we would love to hear from you! Assistants will support the Program Leader in welcoming participants, facilitate check-in, help with activities and clean up as needed.<\/p>\n Current and New Program Needs:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022GiGiFIT (all ages) \u2022GiGi’s Kitchen (ages 6+) \u2022Art Explosion (all ages) \u2022Destination Discovery (all ages) \u2022LMNOP (ages 0-4) \u2022Leaps & Bounds (ages 3-5) \u2022Playhouse Pals (ages 5-8) \u2022Kids Club (ages 8-12) \u2022TeenTastic (ages 13-17) \u2022Fantastic Friends (ages 18+) \u2022Music Makers (ages 5+) \u2022GiGi’s Dance (ages 5+) \u2022GiGi Prep (ages 18+)<\/p>\n Skill-Based Volunteering: <\/strong>Share your subject matter expertise in a presentation or special program to benefit GiGi’s families and\/or participants, whether in transition to adulthood, job skill training, or other areas of interest.<\/p>\n Literacy and Math Tutors: <\/strong>Literacy and Math Tutors: Make a difference by assisting individuals with Down syndrome with reading or math skills. Training is provided, and the time commitment is 1 hour per week for a ten-week spring, summer or fall session.<\/p>\nBoard Of Directors: <\/strong>Guide the Playhouse’s goals, activities, and policies, and support the Playhouse by serving on a committee. Each member supports the Playhouse by serving on a committee: Programs, Fundraising, Outreach, Events, Marketing, or Facility\/IT, Donor Relations, or Family Engagement. Fundraising, Grant Writing or Corporate Sponsorships: <\/strong>Research and connect with potential sponsors, donors, and grant opportunities to support our local programs, events, and future growth.<\/p>\n Marketing:<\/strong> Help with social media planning, website and newsletter editing, content development, graphic design, blog writing, and media\/PR by maintaining local media contacts and writing press releases.<\/p>\n Outreach:<\/strong> Increase awareness about Down syndrome and GiGi’s Playhouse in the community.<\/p>\n Host Family: <\/strong>Join us to ensure no family attends programs alone, greet new families, and collaborate with the Program Leader for a one-session commitment.<\/p>\n Site\u202fIntern: <\/strong>College and university students can apply for internships in non-profit management, marketing, fundraising, and other fields. This role is perfect for a person that is looking for a weekly opportunity between these times Mon.-Fri. 9am-5pm. This is a semester-long commitment.<\/p>\n Clean Team:<\/strong> Help maintain the Playhouse’s cleanliness and organization.
