Birthday Party in a Bag!

Toddlers and Kids on a Mission is once again partnering with GiGi’s Playhouse to help the mission of another organization, The Birthday Party Club. This time, we are working on a service project to celebrate every kid’s favorite event: BIRTHDAYS! At this event, families will  help the Birthday Party Club create Birthday Parties in a Bag. Afterwards, families are welcome to continue to play at the playhouse.

GiGi’s Playhouse, located in Fox Point, is an achievement center for individuals with Down-Syndrome, their families, and the community. They have an excellent play area that is always open and free to anyone who wants to drop in.

The Birthday Party Club, currently situated out of Meta House. It is a charity that provides area shelters with monthly birthday parties for their children who are residents. They provide cake, ice cream, decorations, gifts, and treat bags.

PURPOSE:  Give children who attend Toddlers and Kids on a Mission and Gigi’s Playhouse events a chance to meet each other and become friends. Allow those children to use their gifts to assemble party bags and bake cupcakes for a good cause. Create and gather the items needed to help children who might not get a birthday celebration, a party!

IMPACT: This activity will increase our young helper’s awareness of their ability to work for a good cause. Children will have a festive birthday celebration, where they might not have had a chance otherwise.

ACTIVITIES: First, we will gather for a read aloud. Then we will assemble treat bags and bake cupcakes. ALL families are welcome to play in the play area (during) and after our activities.
