{"id":59548,"date":"2018-09-10T09:52:47","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T14:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/?p=59548"},"modified":"2018-09-10T15:15:42","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T20:15:42","slug":"participants-get-ready-for-the-fall-session-of-tutoring-and-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/programs\/participants-get-ready-for-the-fall-session-of-tutoring-and-speech","title":{"rendered":"Participants Get Ready for The Fall Session of Tutoring and Speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parents and participants attended a meet and greet last Thursday night to meet their tutors and speech therapist for our Fall Session of tutoring and speech.\u00a0 Our Fall Session runs from September 10<sup>th<\/sup> through November 18<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Participants have the option to enroll in Literacy Tutoring Program, Math Tutoring Program, and Amina Grace Speech and Language Program.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/programs\/participants-get-ready-for-the-fall-session-of-tutoring-and-speech\/attachment\/jacob-meet-greet\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-59549\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-59549 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/files\/2018\/09\/jacob.meet-greet-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Fundamentals of GiGi\u2019s Literacy and Math Tutoring Program:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>We teach using materials that are <strong>meaningful<\/strong> and <strong>relevant<\/strong> to the student.<\/li>\n<li>We teach using a <strong>multi-sensory<\/strong> (visual, kinesthetic, auditory) and <strong>multi-modality<\/strong> (variety of methods) approach.<\/li>\n<li>We teach students to <strong>practice<\/strong>, <strong>transfer<\/strong> and <strong>generalize<\/strong> newly learned skills.<\/li>\n<li>We teach students to <strong>apply<\/strong> and <strong>use information<\/strong> gained from math problem solving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/programs\/participants-get-ready-for-the-fall-session-of-tutoring-and-speech\/attachment\/stephen-meet-greet\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-59551\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-59551 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/mchenry\/files\/2018\/09\/stephen.-meeT-GREET-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GiGi&#8217;s Literacy Tutoring Program builds a strong foundation from the beginning and is based on the Five Components of Reading which include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phonemic Awareness<\/li>\n<li>Phonics<\/li>\n<li>Vocabulary<\/li>\n<li>Comprehension<\/li>\n<li>Fluency\/Articulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The GiGi&#8217;s Math Tutoring program builds a foundation from the beginning in these main areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number Sense and Counting<\/li>\n<li>Addition and Subtraction<\/li>\n<li>Multiplication and Division<\/li>\n<li>Math in the Real World: Shapes, Fractions, Measurement, Time, Money, Data &amp;
