Meet Jovi and Misa

JOVI and MISA:

Jovi and his brother Misa have attended Dynamic Duals, a collaboration between the Madison Area Down Syndrome Society and GiGi’s-Madison for many months. Both participated in a recent session held offsite at Country Creek Learning Center, a preschool, located on a 5-acre site about 30 minutes from the Playhouse.  Although the original plan was for our Duals and sibs to focus on exploring outdoor spaces, including a picnic shelter, outdoor fenced in play area, barn with friendly goats, and nature trails, most participants opted for indoor options due to the hot and muggy weather.  Jovi actively, and with great interest, explored many activities in one of the classrooms, including working on puzzles by himself and with others.  His patience and concentration were amazing!

Support of our Duals and parents is key to the success of this pilot program, but supporting siblings is important as well.  While Jovi enjoyed indoor activities, his brother Misa explored the outdoors.  The picnic shelter was a welcome refuge from the high temperatures, and Misa shared his creative talents with volunteer Barbara, including how to make a crane using origami folding techniques.  Misa is very knowledgeable about gardening, and Barbara enjoyed watching him identify every plant in the Learning Center garden.
