Join Our Board of Directors and Help Shape a More Inclusive Future

Directors help shape our future
Do you want to make a lasting impact in your community? Are you passionate about creating a world where individuals with Down syndrome are accepted and celebrated for exactly who they are? If so, we invite you to consider joining our Board of Directors, a group of dedicated leaders working together to ensure our mission continues to thrive.
Why Serve?
Our Board of Directors plays a vital role in steering the vision and strategy of our organization. We are looking for individuals who bring a variety of perspectives, lived experiences, and professional skills—from finance to marketing, education to community building. Most importantly, we seek people who care deeply about inclusion and believe in the power of community.
No prior board experience? No problem. Training and support are provided, so whether you’re a seasoned professional or just beginning your nonprofit journey, you’ll have the tools and guidance you need to succeed.
Board Commitment
Board service is both meaningful and manageable. Here’s what you can expect:
- Monthly Meetings: 1.5 hour board meetings held virtually, with in-person meetings once per quarter.
- Annual Strategic Planning Session: A summer gathering to reflect, plan, and align on future goals.
- Give or Get of $2,000/year: This goal is very doable and can be met through a personal donation, corporate support, or fundraising efforts. Many members reach this by engaging organizations and individuals who share our mission.
- Three-Year Term: A long enough term to make a real difference, with the flexibility to grow into the role.
We are building a board of 11–17 members, with the goal that at least 25% of members have a personal or family connection to someone with Down syndrome. This helps ensure that our leadership is grounded in lived experience and community insight.
