A charming personality

Thomas (19) has been coming to the Playhouse for about 20 months now. He has been a regular participant at Club GiGi but also Fantastic Friends, TEAM and the adaptive dance class. Thomas is rather shy in class. He loves to be there but usually is very hesitant participating. He is eager to attend the range of activities offered at the Playhouse and will go outside his comfort zone, like the time his group went out to Crema Café and Thomas ordered his own food. Since he first started attending, Thomas has increased his interactions with his peers. One of Thomas’ interests is in other cultures and languages. When he met Julia he instantly connected because she spoke German. Discovery of a language other than English is one way for him to open up and participate in group activities. One important opportunity to share in different cultures was when the Mandela Washington Fellows at the University of Wisconsin-Madison came to Gigi’s for several weeks this past summer to share their cultures.

Thomas’ smile is contagious and his sense of humor very witty. He now opens up, participates in class and shows his charming personality.
