Literacy Tutor Spotlight – Daniel Malek

Today we want to acknowledge and honor the volunteer contributions of an amazing Literacy Tutor – Daniel Malek.   Daniel has approached tutoring with such a wonderful sense of commitment and curiosity about how he can have the most impact on the lives of the participants he works with!

But don’t take our word for it, here is what we heard from a couple of the parents:

“Daniel has been very devoted and engaged since we started on day one. He listened to me as the parent explain what I would like for Ellison to work on and took notes. He comes with reading material for each lesson and they work together. Ellison really enjoys her literacy sessions with Mr. Daniel. They like to laugh together, read together, & encourage each other together! They make a great team! I’m so blessed to have been given this opportunity to allow my daughter to gain self-confidence when reading! Daniel is a college student and devotes multiple hours a week volunteering for GiGi’s literacy tutoring program. You can tell that he cares and wants to do a great job! He is such a sweet young man, volunteering his time to give back to such a wonderful program! He says it fulfills his soul and helps him as much as it helps us! I applaud him for taking time out of his busy schedule, with college courses and music, to help my daughter! I feel like we have made a friend for life! We will definitely miss him as he pursues his degree at Berkley in the Fall! We wish him the best and plan to learn and enjoy our time with him while we can! Many blessings to Daniel and we say “thank you for your selfless acts of kindness!”   – Amber, Ellison’s mom

“Trinity is enjoying her tutoring sessions very much with Daniel.  He is so great and offers a creative approach to his tutoring sessions which keeps Trinity interested.  She looks forward to each week and has improved in her independence as well by offering to walk into GiGi’s on her own which is fantastic! Thank you!”  Linda, Trinity’s mom
