School\u2019s out for many students! We thought it would be fun to add Destination Discovery during the day every other week for our kids. On the first day, the theme was Summer Bucket List. They started by gathering in a circle, sitting on beach towels and pool floaties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They took turns passing a microphone around, introducing themselves and sharing something they want to do this summer, while referencing a visual choiceboard, as needed. The participants shared that they look forward to going to the pool, the beach, camping, Hersheypark and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, the participants went to the kitchen and created their own summer bucket list craft. They made a choice of what color bucket and shovel they wanted. They also chose pictures or wrote words to represent what they want to do this summer. They decorated their buckets, wrote their name, wrote activities, and cut and glued on pictures to create their own bucket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion, they seemed excited to share what they created with volunteers and those around them. Check out what a few of the participants put on their Summer Bucket Lists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corey is excited to go camping with Grobie, his grandpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willow is excited to go camping, to the beach and to the pool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hayden is excited to go to Hersheypark, the beach and to build a sandcastle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isabella is excited to go to Dutch Wonderland, the boardwalk, to see fireworks and to Hersheypark!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Caleb is excited to go on a hike, go on an airplane, go to the beach, go kayaking and go to the pool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frost is excited to go camping, to see fireworks, to go fishing, to go to Dutch Wonderland, to go to the pool and the boardwalk!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant is excited to play in the sprinkler, play with his toys and sing karaoke!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some participants then put on summer temporary tattoos. Some participants played in a sensory table with kinetic sand, buckets, shovels and seashells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, the group went to the gym to play with beach balls, pool noodles and pool floaties. They also worked on following group directions to participate in beach-themed relays, such as hitting a beach ball across the gym with a pool noodle, walking with a beach ball between their legs, wearing a pool floatie to cross the gym and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, the group played a game of musical beach towels. By the end, we tried to get everyone to all fit on one beach towel together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, the participants went back to the kitchen to eat their packed lunches that they brought. They worked on staying in their seats, opening containers, asking for help, eating their food independently and having conversations with others. It was a great day! Good job everyone!
