We decided 18 months ago that we were being called to adopt a little boy from China with Down Syndrome. As we shared the news with family and friends, people kept on recommending that we check out GiGi’s Playhouse. I remembered seeing the playhouse on our way to Castleton Mall a few times, but we were neck deep in adoption paperwork and focused on getting Isaac home.<\/p>\n

As our adoption process became more of a waiting game, we decided to check out this GiGi’s\u00a0place that so many people spoke so highly of. From the first phone call on, I could feel the love and support. They explained to me all about their mission and took the time to answer my numerous questions. I knew that it was a place that we were going to be welcomed and a great resource to help us figure out how best to meet Isaac’s needs. GiGi’s has been such a blessing now Isaac is home. We are now regulars at LMNOP, utilize the Literacy Tutoring, and celebrated our first National Down Syndrome Day at GiGi’s! Isaac has already picked up the word, “GiGi,” and starts chanting it as soon as he realizes that is the direction we are heading. The staff, families, and volunteers at GiGi’s have provided so much encouragement, support, and awesome advice. We continue to be amazed by all they have to offer.<\/span><\/p>\n

GiGi’s Playhouse has helped make bringing Isaac into our family a wonderful experience. We feel more supported, educated, and confident from hanging out at GiGi’s. I know if I have a question or need a recommendation, I can asked around while at GiGi’s and leave feeling equipped and knowledgeable on the next steps to take. We can’t wait for the 3.21 Mile Run on September 9th. Not only is this a great way to help raise money to support that programs that GiGi’s offers, it will be a fun-filled day hanging out with the wonderful families, volunteers, and staff that make up the GiGi’s community.
