Work Hard, Play Hard

Laurel greets guest as they arrive to the Gala

February was a big month for GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis. On Saturday, February 24th, more than four hundred supporters attended the “I Have a Voice Gala.” At the Gala, GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis supporters and families imagined what the future could and will hold for the Playhouse. In the time of planning and imagining for the gala, the staff at Indianapolis imagined two big things for our GiGi U students:

  1. For one of our GiGi U students to speak on stage as a spotlight speaker.
  2. For the WHOLE class to be in attendance greeting and conversing with the supporters and families of GiGi’s.

The GiGi U students spent hours of class time practicing, rehearsing, and role playing scenarios for this task that the staff had set before them. To say that they knocked it out of the park would be an understatement.   The excelled in their goal. Every single person that showed up to the Gala was  greeted and welcomed by ALL six participants. During cocktail hour, every single table was visited and conversed with by the GiGi students. They answered questions, asked questions, and carried conversations with supporters and families for two hours.

Their hours of practice paid off, and they were the talk of the night. As they say, when you work hard you must play hard. The night ended with our GiGi U students being invited on stage to dance the night away with the live band, Owl Music Group.
