Meet 2017 Gala Emcee WISH-TV Daybreak Anchor Scott Sander

GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis is thrilled to have Hoosier native and WISH-TV Daybreak anchor Scott Sander as our 2017 ‘I Have A Voice’ Gala Emcee!

A Mishawaka-born and Carmel-raised Indiana boy, Scott has been an award-winning broadcaster for more than a quarter century, covering stories large and small, serious and silly, heartbreaking and historic.

His career started on the radio airwaves of WFBQ and WNDE in Indianapolis in 1989, then transitioned to television work in Columbia, Missouri (KOMU) in 1992, Davenport, Iowa (KWQC) in 1995, and Denver, Colorado (KCNC) in 1997.
He joined the WISH-TV team in 2005.

Time after time, his career has allowed him to see and report history as it happened. Scott was on the ground in Mid-Missouri during the Great Flood of ’93. He chased life-changing tornadoes through the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. He was among the first journalists on-scene at Columbine High School after the shootings there.

Many more major news stories have happened since Scott returned home, and he has been here to cover them all. His favorite (so far!) has been the Colts’ Super Bowl victory in a rainy Miami, Florida. He says he has never been so happy to be so soaked.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys helping the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation, the Salvation Army, the Ronald McDonald House, the Indianapolis Fire Department, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Arthritis Foundation.

Scott has won 10 Emmy awards, including honors as the region’s top anchor in 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.
He has also earned awards from the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Broadcasters Associations of three different states.

Scott’s and his wife, Tammy, are proud parents of son, Owen, and daughter, Maren.
