Celebrate!

The month of March in Indianapolis may have been odd with a combination of snow and shorts weather, but none of that matters when this month holds our favorite day — World Down Syndrome Day!  We celebrate our wonderfully unique friends on 3/21 because Down syndrome is the third copy of the 21st chromosome!  At GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis, we had our own festivities!  Our theme was Rock Your Socks.  Dozens of families came out sporting their best silly socks and participating in: socializing, crafts, donating $21 for a custom GiGi U made mug, playing & dancing in the bubbles, enjoying cookies, and above all else, being #GenerationG.   As always, our mission is to bring awareness to the community about what Down syndrome is.  Our vow is to be the Generation of Generosity; always treating one another with kindness, love, and respect no matter how many chromosomes they may have.  At GiGi’s, we strive to be a safe place for all members of a family.  We are a place of acceptance and joy.

Have you heard of the Lucky Few Tattoo?  The same symbol of three arrows is on our shirts this year (see below).  It is a movement to symbolize the journey a family endures when Down syndrome becomes a part of their world.  Often times we are pulled back and stretched before we can move forward. Whether it be medical issues or delays in developmental milestones, we pull each other through, rise up, and move forward.  Thank you to all who donated $30 to receive your very own tee. It’s not too late to do so!

Looking ahead into April, you can registrar your rock star for Preschool Prep , Art Explosion , Cooking Club, NEW Theater Program and much more!  We are continually working to develop new programs and are always excited to welcome new families! Thank you for helping us grow!
