<\/a><\/span><\/p>\nAlways patient, Sally knows when to encourage and when to challenge our adults to push just a bit more in order to achieve their goals. She is patient, firm, and loving while she helps them earn their certifications so that they can reach their full potential and become employable in our community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>If she is not revising and revamping already existing aspects of the program, she is bringing her own new ideas to improve the experience for the interns.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Farzin, one of our GiGi Professionals, had the honor of interviewing Sally and here’s how it went:<\/p>\n Farzin<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(F):\u00a0<\/span>What is your connection to GiGi\u2019s Playhouse? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Sally<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(S):\u00a0<\/span>Well, my son Daniel, who is 28 now, star<\/span>te<\/span>d coming about 4 years ago and so that\u2019s how I got interested in\u00a0<\/span>Gi<\/span>Gi<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> Playhouse.\u00a0<\/span>And then\u00a0<\/span>when I was free, I volunteered<\/span>. So Daniel started before I did. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span> F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0How long have you been a volunteer at the playhouse?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b> Well, that\u2019s a tough one.<\/span>\u00a0I think I started in the summer, a little over a year ago.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Tell me about your job here?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b> My job here is to help Michael [Scott] as much as possible, so he can get his work done. <\/span>So,<\/span>\u00a0I work with the interns and we work on training so that they can learn their jobs fully so that hopefully they can get a job out in the community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0What inspired you to volunteer?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0What inspires me was hearing Nancy [Gianni] speak and sometimes when I get tired and I hear Nancy speak again it inspires me to keep on going.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0What makes you happy at\u00a0<\/span>GiGi\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0Playhouse?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b> What makes me happy is when I\u2019ve taught someone something and then they can do it on their own. F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0What is your biggest goal right now?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0My biggest goal now is to make sure everyone gets all their certifications done, so that they can all get jobs in the community if they want them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Tell me about yourself.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b> Well, I\u2019m 61 and my first job was answering phones. In high school, I learned how to become a preschool teacher, so I did that next. And then I worked in the retail business and then as an office administrator for 12 years. I\u2019ve done a variety of jobs, so I guess it helped me here too! [laughs]<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0What type of music do you like?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n S:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0I think I like pop rock.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n F:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Do you have a hobby outside of the playhouse?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>Sally encompasses\u00a0<\/span>the values of\u00a0<\/span>G<\/span>iGi\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0and is a gift to our playhouse. The interns look up to Sally as a supervisor, mentor, and friend. Sally has a son, Daniel, who participates in the Hugs and Mugs Program<\/span>\u00a0too<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>We truly appreciate Sally\u2019s dedication\u00a0<\/span>and service to the Hoffman Estates Playhouse<\/span>.
