What are you Thankful For?

GiGi U is Thankful

It’s that time of year when everyone is asking, “what are you thankful for?”  This week, I asked GiGi U participants that very question and their answers truly made me realize how much of a difference we make here at GiGi’s Playhouse! I was pleasantly surprised to hear that most of the participants said that they were thankful for GiGi’s Playhouse and GiGi U. Their reasoning touched my heart. The participants all said things like “this is where my friends are,” “I like having fun here,” and “I feel happy”. Every single one of them!

Families

We LOVE hearing that our participants are thankful for us, and it is just as fantastic to hear that family and friends are just as thankful! A family friend once told me that her participant’s favorite time of the week was when they were at GiGi’s Playhouse. She would get herself up and make her own breakfast in preparation for the bus coming to pick her up, and this only happened on the days she came to GiGi’s. Another parent said her daughter always had such a hard time making friends until she came to GiGi’s. Never in her life had she seen her daughter so happy, and the first time she saw her daughter hug one of her classmates, she began to cry.  There are so many stories like these that display the gratitude that participants, family, and friends have for GiGi’s Playhouse and GiGi U.

Why?

Now I wonder, why are they so thankful for us? It is because we as staff, volunteers, participants, families, and friends are the true definition of #generationG.  We are accepting, generous, and kind. We offer a happy and friendly place for everyone to come, where they can feel at home when they walk through the doors. As for GiGi U and GiGi Prep, we make sure that we are having fun as we learn our career skills.  We form friendships and make memories that we will never forget.

What are you thankful for?

As you prepare to celebrate with your family and friends this week, take time to think about what you are thankful for. Be sure to appreciate the opportunities that you have in your life and the people and places that make them possible. Without these things, life wouldn’t be as bright.
