Looking Back on 2017

Board President Erin Morris reflects on an amazing year, and all that we have accomplished together.

As we wrap up another year at GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough I am overwhelmed by the generosity of so many that have helped us achieve so many miracles in 2017. We have seen tremendous growth this year across all areas of the Playhouse and that is truly due to all of you.

In 2017 we logged over 4000 volunteer hours! That is a remarkable number of you that have given your gift of time and spirit to the mission of GiGi’s Playhouse. Because of this generosity we have been able to continue serving over 250 families across the state of New Jersey as well as Pennsylvania with 100% FREE programming. Together we are showing the world that individuals with Down syndrome are capable, talented and valuable human beings.

In the past year we have been able to expand our programming even more. Because of your generosity we are now offering FREE one-on-one literacy tutoring, FREE one-on-one math tutoring and FREE one-on-one speech therapy through the Amina Grace Speech and Language program. These amazing one-on-one programs paired with the numerous group educational, therapeutic and social programs across all ranges are changing the lives of our participants and for all of the incredible volunteers that help make these programs possible.

One of our most amazing accomplishments of 2017 is our move to our NEW and IMPROVED facility. We are thrilled to have been able to more than double our previous space in our beautiful 2800 square foot home. We are so excited about the opportunities that moving into this new space have provided our participants. With three learning labs, a full kitchen, classroom and larger gross motor space and library the opportunities are endless! Again, this is all due to the generosity and commitment of so many to see GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough succeed.

We are grateful for the love, support, encouragement and generosity of everyone that continues to believe in GiGi’s Playhouse and its mission to change the way the world views Down syndrome and empowering our families by maximizing opportunities for daily achievement and lasting acceptance. With your help we can continue to ensure lasting acceptance and show the world what individuals with Down syndrome are truly capable of achieving as students, co-workers, volunteers, friends, and valued members of their communities. Thank you for being a part of this mission and vision and for an incredible 2017!
