Read Across America Week

Our Executive Director was invited to be a guest reader during Covington Elementary’s Read Across America Week celebration. Knowing that Bethany loves children, our Executive Director asked her to come along. After doing introductions, Bethany, decided that she would be the one to read 47 Strings to the three classes. 47 Strings, a wonderful book about Down syndrome, was a clear choice for the occasion. The basic message of the book being that individuals with Down syndrome have 47 strings which make them different, but they are just like you!

Bethany read confidently and  fielded questions about Down syndrome, GiGi’s Playhouse and more! Bethany thanked the classes for inviting us by handing out GenerationG stickers to remind everyone to be accepting, generous and kind. While leaving the parking lot, Bethany gave our Executive Director a huge smile and said, “I want to go back and do that again!”

Bethany was among several local celebrity readers, like Mayor Tom Henry, during Read Across America Week!
