Rooted in Mission: April at GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo

As we navigate a season of change, one thing remains steady: our mission, vision, and values.

As many of you know, Heather Lorenzen has stepped away from her role as Executive Director after almost seven dedicated years of service. We are incredibly grateful for her passion and leadership, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter. Our commitment to families, participants, and the entire GiGi’s community continues without interruption. Programs are moving forward, and we are as focused as ever on delivering the support and joyful connections you’ve come to count on.

April turned out to be one for the record books!

What a month it’s been! We had over 650 participation hours logged, making it our biggest participation month yet! This incredible milestone is a testament to the power of community and the strength of our programs!

Fantastic Friends + Able Games
In April, our Fantastic Friends program teamed up with Able Games for a special event that combined fitness with fun. Participants got to learn about the Able Games and join in a quick workout that left everyone energized and smiling.

Friends, Fun & Fitness at the Bowling Alley
Our Friends, Fun & Fitness crew ventured out to West Acres Bowling on April 11. It was a fantastic afternoon full of strikes, spares, and tons of laughter—always a favorite way to stay active and connected.

School Field Trips: Spreading Awareness

One of the highlights of April was welcoming four third-grade classes for special field trips. These visits were all about spreading awareness and understanding of Down syndrome. Each class participated in a variety of hands-on activities, moving through different stations around the Playhouse. The feedback from teachers was incredible, and we were thrilled to see the students leave inspired, informed, and smiling!

Fashion, Confidence & Community: Our NDSU Collaboration

We were honored to partner with NDSU’s fashion department this spring, offering student designers the chance to create custom clothing for GiGi’s Playhouse participants. After weeks of thoughtful design and collaboration, four of our participants—Nicole, Jake, Bryn, and Claire—lit up the runway at NDSU’s Fashion Show on April 30. These one-of-a-kind outfits were more than just clothing—they were a celebration of individuality, confidence, and creativity. What an amazing experience for everyone involved!

Staying Strong Together

April reminded us of the strength and heart of this community. Even in the midst of leadership transitions, GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo is thriving—because of YOU. Whether you’re a participant, volunteer, family member, or friend, thank you for showing up, sharing your light, and keeping this mission alive.

We can’t wait to see what May will bring. Let’s keep building on this momentum—together.

From all of us at GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo, thank you for showing up, supporting our mission, and making a difference. We can’t wait to see what’s next—together.
