2018 National Conference Attendees Come Back Inspired!

When we talk about being ‘Bigger Better and Strong Together’, we all share the same message! The 2018 GiGi’s Playhouse National Conference had 300 attendees, 56 cities, 2 countries and          1 VOICE!  Nine members from the Fargo Playhouse traveled to Chicago to be inspired, attend trainings, network with other Playhouses to share the same global message of acceptance for all!

In reflecting on the impact, we can make in our community all attendees were asked to share feedback. Here are a few take away messages on how November 6th – 11th impacted us as a board, Playhouse staff and volunteers.

“The conference is so inspiring and drives me to be a better advocate and role model. By being able to attend this conference, we are able to bring the latest tools back to our families to better help the population we serve. We are truly lucky to have GiGi’s in our community!”  Kellie Hamre, Board President and Parent

“The weekend of the conference happened to coincide with one of my “worst days” …It was 8 years ago to the day that I was encouraged to take Max home and let nature takes it course…and even if his heart could be repaired there would be no guarantee on his “quality of life”.  Saturday, I sat and listened to Nancy inspire a room full of people dedicated to changing the way the world views Down syndrome.  I am even more committed to helping Max and friends have the very best quality life possible!”   Nikki Knodel, Board Vice President and Parent

“The National conference reminded me that even through Fargo is considered one of the “smaller” Playhouses, we can still make a big impact in changing how the world views Down syndrome. I have been inspired to think bigger and better for our participants and our families, and I am devoted to GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo!” Jenni Peters, Board Treasurer

“I have so much that I have taken away from the conference, I guess it is just difficult for me to put into words.  I am just inspired by what I have learned and ready to bring it all back to Fargo and put it into action.”  Katie Mohr, Board Secretary

“The conference is a great opportunity to understand the impact GiGi’s has not only locally but nationally. We as a community can change the world’s view of Down syndrome in a positive way!”   Bryan McClean, Board General/Facilities

Motivating experience, ready to change the face of beauty and change the way the World sees Down syndrome, one community at a time!”  Lacey Romie, Board Past President and Parent

Wow, so inspired to see everything we can bring to the Playhouse now and what the future has in store for our Playhouse (programs, events and fundraising). I am excited to be a part of the present and cannot wait to see what we can bring for many years to come, for all the wonderful families we are here for!  Ilene Cohen-Pearson, Volunteer Coordinator

“The National Conference inspired me to use my voice to empower our participants, strengthen our programming, embrace our community and track our progress as a Playhouse! I am super excited for our continued growth in Fargo with programming, families and future events. This last week left an impact on my heart to fight harder, thank more often and celebrate our Best of All moments!” Heather Lorenzen, Site Manager

The 2018 National Conference was an awesome event! Education and motivation were my two biggest takeaways. GiGi’s Playhouse – Fargo has an advantage of being a part of our amazing community. The key is to pass the knowledge along and inspire more community members to be involved.  Nick Romie, Volunteer and Parent

GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo is committed to changing the way the World sees Down syndrome! The enthusiasm, knowledge and inspiration from the conference has us all striving to achieve the best for our participants, families and community!
