Best of All: Kate’s Growing Confidence in Literacy Tutoring

At GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit, we celebrate every milestone, big or small, with our Best of All moments. These moments highlight the perseverance, growth, and joy our participants show as they continue to challenge themselves and achieve new goals.

This month, we’re celebrating Kate!

Kate walks into every literacy tutoring session with excitement, eager to play and connect. What’s even more incredible is watching that excitement grow as she begins her activities—shifting from playful energy to pure determination and joy when she accomplishes something new.

During a recent session, Kate worked on a word sequence and sentence-forming activity using musical chairs and hopscotch. The combination of movement and learning kept her engaged and motivated. When she completed the activity, Kate beamed and proudly exclaimed, “I did it!” Her enthusiasm was contagious, inspiring everyone around her.

One of the most rewarding parts of working with Kate is seeing her confidence blossom. She approaches new activities—sometimes unsure at first—but with each attempt, she gains ownership of the process. By the end of most sessions, she’s completing activities with little to no assistance, showcasing just how much she’s grown.

Kate reminds us why we celebrate Best of All: every step forward is worth recognizing, and every achievement builds the foundation for even greater success.
