Meet the New Program Leaders – Music Makers

It’s a Family Affair!

This spring we launched another new program, called Music Makers. Thanks to the lovely Kunz family, we have already received tremendous reviews!

Allow us to introduce Jeannie, Bill, Margaret, and Frank – the rockstars who stepped up to lead our joyful ensemble. Back in the day, Jeannie used to babysit one of our board members! When she heard about this volunteer opportunity, Jeannie recruited her mother, Marge, and brother, Bill, to help out. They had so much fun, they wrangled their dad/husband, Frank, in as well. Lucky for us, the whole Kunz family has a strong musical background!

Please take a moment to get to know them below…

Jeannie

What excites you about this program?

Making sure our class offers participants real-life instrument exposure, engaging music, rhythm experience, and FUN!

Do you have pets?

I have 4 senior citizen pets. Ramona and Victor are my beautiful dogs. Yogurt and Egon are my spicy cats.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“You Can Call Me Al”, by Paul Simon

Bill

What excites you about this program?

Besides the opportunity to work with my sister, who is my hero, I think the opportunity to connect with more of the greater community, and to do some good really excites me. It’s amazing the effect that music can have everywhere, and to be able to help young kids learn a little about music, how to establish rhythm, or what instruments sound like puts a smile on my face.

Do you have pets?

No, and the absence is very much felt. Know any good dogs who need a home? 🥺

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

You can’t expect a musician to have just one go-to! I have 3: “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Wonder, “The Weight” by The Band, and “Creep” by Radiohead.

Margaret

What excites you about this program?

Getting to see the joy of children as they experience music, interact with musical instruments, interact with us volunteers, interact with other children, interact with their parents, and interact with rhythm, BUT the best part is seeing the parents smiling and participating with their beautiful children.

Do you have pets?

My dog’s name is Bailey.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

My favorite song lately is, “Mum Does The Washing”, by Joshua Idehen

Frank

What excites you about this program?

I am volunteering for GiGi’s Playhouse to help our daughter Jeannie with the Music Makers class.

Do you have pets?

We have one dog – Bailey.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

I do not karaoke. (Marge says Frank plays tuba and substitutes as the pianist at their Congregational Church on occasion)

Thank you to the Kunz family for bringing your big hearts and musical talents to our Playhouse!

Music Makers is a program for 4 – 7 year-olds to tap into their inner rock star; where every voice shines! Music supports the increase of self-confidence, social skills, communication, and motor skills. We hope you’ll join us for their final performance on Saturday, April 26th at 2:00 PM at the Playhouse!
