Welcome to the Team, Samantha!
We have news!
After nearly six years of significant growth and sustainability, we are thrilled to be in the position of expanding our team of staff members. Our wonderful Site Manager of the last 2.5 years, Bethany Wells, is moving into the position of Marketing Coordinator, and will now support the Playhouse remotely (don’t worry, we’ll still see her beautiful children at programs and events!). Our dedicated Program Coordinator, Kathleen Tynes, is still going strong, ensuring the quality and continuity of all our purposeful programs. That brings us to the newest member of our trifecta, Samantha Masserant! Samantha will take Bethany’s place as Site Manager, beginning November 1st, 2024.
Samantha comes to the Playhouse with a background in program development, case management, and workforce development, specializing in support for individuals with disabilities. Growing up with a cousin who has Down syndrome, she quickly recognized the gaps in resources and programming for families and individuals.
A Purdue University graduate in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, with studies in Dance and Photography, Samantha is known for her approachable and collaborative style. Her skills in public speaking, project management, and behavioral health contribute to successful program implementation. Passionate about community engagement, she has volunteered with Miss Amazing, Special Olympics, and Best Buddies, aiming to create inclusive environments that empower everyone involved.
Outside of work, Samantha enjoys photography, dance classes, visiting amusement parks, spending time with her dog, Zeus, and traveling. After exploring the world, she hopes to promote inclusion, acceptance, and belonging on a global scale.
As you know, GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit is a special place in partnership with extraordinary people, and we are so happy to now have this tripod of staff, in addition to our amazing Board of Managers, to support our community. As always, feel free to email detroit@gigisplayhouse.org with any questions!
