Volunteer Spotlight: Lynn Duncan

This September marked the 3 year anniversary of Lynn Duncan volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit! Previously an elementary school teacher, Lynn lives near the Playhouse and simply happened upon it one day. She inquired about ways to get involved and has provided weekly Literacy tutoring ever since!

In her free time, Lynn enjoys hanging out with her family, walking, reading, and travel.

When asked what she loves about being at GiGi’s, and what keeps her coming back, Lynn replied, “My relationship with my student and her parents… Volunteering here helps me feel like I am doing something important in retirement”. She added, “it’s rewarding to see Kendyl’s progress and enjoyment in her reading”.

Lynn is a rare gem and we are so grateful for her support! If you’re interested in volunteering at GiGi’s, reach out to us! There are so many different ways to become involved that would suit your time allowance and skillset. Our next volunteer orientation is Tuesday, October 1st, 2024 , from 7 – 8 PM. You can register HERE.
