March Program & Volunteer Spotlight

We are continuing to feature one of our programs and one of our volunteers each month on the blog. We hope this helps you understand the background and focus of our various programs, as well as give you an opportunity to get to know the amazing volunteers who help make GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit possible! March we are focusing on one of our school age programs, Playhouse Pals for 5-8 year olds.

March Program Spotlight: Playhouse Pals

Playhouse Pals supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also supports gross motor skills through active games, as well as fine motor skills & self-help skills. Ms. Lisa always brings a variety of different songs, books and games each month. Your child will have so much fun and will not even realize the amount of therapeutic benefits built in to these games, songs and activities!

While right now we can’t physically meet together at the Playhouse, you can tune in to our virutal programs here. When it is safe for us to meet again in person make sure to join us for Playhouse Pals. This program is recommended for 5-8 year olds.

March Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Kocab

Our March volunteer spotlight is Lisa Kocab, our Board President and Playhouse Pals Program Lead. Lisa paved the way as we opened the first GiGi’s Playhouse in Michigan. Aside from her board responsibilities Lisa leads our Playhouse Pals Program. She is the perfect lead for this program because of her experience as a school teacher. She brings so many fun, exciting crafts and games to Playhouse Pals that disguise the therapeutic elements perfectly. Lisa’s fun and energetic personality make her the perfect leader for our team!

Now do you want to jump in?

And as always, if you’d like to join us in changing the way the world views Down syndrome, we are always in need of volunteers!  Simply register here and we will get in touch!
