Elizabeth and Agustina took on Chicago at the GiGi’s Playhouse National Conference. They had a blast getting to meet the 300+ individuals represented from the 46 playhouses across the nation and Mexico. The two of them gained, and have brought back with them, so much information and knowledge. Now, more than ever, we are passionate about bringing a Playhouse to the Denver area. We were able to see firsthand the impact and ripple effect that all started with one Playhouse. Here\u2019s to this exciting adventure.<\/p>\n

Here is what Beth had to say about the conference:<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cIn describing the conference, it’s hard to know where to begin. To say that the 2019 GiGi\u2019s National Leadership Conference was amazing hardly does it justice. Because today, a week later as of this writing, I still wake up every morning thinking of new ways to use the new marketing and strategic planning expertise with our team. I go to bed every night dreaming of new community outreach efforts and fun ways to engage with local families. It was a fully packed, overwhelming, exhausting, thrilling and encouraging two and a half days in Chicago. I can\u2019t wait for next year!<\/p>\n

Some of my favorite parts were the personal connections we made.\u00a0 Agustina and I closed the dance floor on Saturday night alongside the wonderful team from GiGi\u2019s Playhouse Southern Tier, NY. We spoke with Franco, GiGi\u2019s older brother, about life as a sibling of someone with Down syndrome. He didn\u2019t hesitate to assure us that the siblings of our children with Down syndrome will undoubtedly be better people for knowing the Down syndrome community. I got to meet a family of one of our volunteers from Colorado Springs whose mother founded the GiGi\u2019s Playhouse in Tinley Park, IL. Now that he lives away from his stepbrother and the Down syndrome community in Tinley Park, he wants to find a way to connect here in Colorado. When he heard there was a GiGi\u2019s Playhouse coming to Denver, he reached out right away to find out how he could help. All the way from Colorado Springs!!! That is the power of the GiGi\u2019s Ripple Effect.\u201d – Beth<\/p>\n

Agustina had this to say about her experience at the conference:<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing into my first National Leadership Conference, I did not know what to expect. If I had any remote idea of what\"\" I was about to experience, I was way off. What an amazing, inspiring, enlightening and empowering conference! It was a great opportunity to learn, to connect with other Playhouses, to share stories, to ask questions and to be inspired by every single person that we crossed paths with.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite memories was the Networking Reception at the National Playhouse. I was so excited to finally tour the National GiGi\u2019s Playhouse, and I loved every single corner of it!<\/p>\n

I want to thank GiGi\u2019s Playhouse Inc. again for welcoming the Denver Startup Team into this wonderful family, filled with hardworking, passionate people who are committed to do whatever it takes to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all!<\/p>\n

Elizabeth y Agustina viajaron a Chicago para participar de la Conferencia Nacional de Liderazgo de GiGi\u2019s Playhouse. Se divirtieron mucho al conocer a m\u00e1s de 300 personas representando a 46 Playhouses en todo el pa\u00eds y M\u00e9xico. Ambas ganaron mucha informaci\u00f3n y conocimiento, y lo han tra\u00eddo consigo para compartir con el resto del equipo. Ahora, m\u00e1s que nunca, estamos muy entusiasmados de traer un Playhouse al \u00e1rea de Denver. Pudimos ver a primera vista el impacto y el efecto domin\u00f3 creado por un Playhouse y que se multiplica a medida que seguimos creciendo. Aqu\u00ed compartimos un poco de esta emocionante aventura.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cAl tratar de describir la conferencia, es dif\u00edcil saber por d\u00f3nde comenzar. Decir que la Conferencia Nacional de Liderazgo de GiGi\u2019s 2019 fue incre\u00edble, apenas le hace justicia. Porque hoy, mientras escribo estas l\u00edneas a una semana de haber participado, todav\u00eda me despierto todas las ma\u00f1anas pensando en nuevas formas de utilizar todo lo aprendido con nuestro equipo respecto de marketing y planificaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica. Me acuesto todas las noches so\u00f1ando con nuevas maneras de tener m\u00e1s llegada a la comunidad y formas divertidas de relacionarme con las familias locales. Fueron dos d\u00edas y medio en Chicago, completamente llenos de actividades; d\u00edas abrumadores, agotadores, emocionantes y alentadores. \u00a1No puedo esperar para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o!<\/p>\n

Algunos de mis momentos favoritos fueron las conexiones personales que hicimos. Conoc\u00ed a una familia de uno de nuestros voluntarios de Colorado Springs, cuya madre fund\u00f3 GiGi\u2019s Playhouse en Tinley Park, IL. Ahora que vive lejos de su hermanastro y la comunidad del s\u00edndrome de Down en Tinley Park, quiere encontrar una manera de conectarse aqu\u00ed en Colorado. \u201cMientras me preparaba para participar de mi primera Conferencia Nacional de Liderazgo, sinceramente no sab\u00eda \"\"con qu\u00e9 me iba a encontrar. Si ten\u00eda una idea remota de lo que estaba a punto de experimentar, me qued\u00e9 corta. \u00a1Qu\u00e9 conferencia tan incre\u00edble, inspiradora, esclarecedora y enriquecedora! Fue una gran oportunidad para aprender, conectarnos con otros Playhouses, compartir historias, hacer preguntas e inspirarnos con cada persona con la que nos cruzamos.<\/p>\n

Uno de mis recuerdos favoritos fue la recepci\u00f3n de Networking en el primer Playhouse que se fund\u00f3. Estaba super contenta de finalmente recorrer el National GiGi\u2019s Playhouse, \u00a1y me encant\u00f3 cada rinc\u00f3n!<\/p>\n
