Destination Discovery is one of the signature programs at GiGi\u2019s Playhouse, following the same structure and curriculum at each location to provide purposeful progressions by supporting our youngest learners through adulthood.\u202f This program is developed to support fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills, and language through purposeful play and peer-to-peer interaction in a casual and fun setting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> It\u2019s an engaging program for the entire family \u2013 everyone of all ages is welcomed to participate!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 Tell us about you<\/span><\/b>
\nA: I am an occupational therapist. I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology and earned my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, as well as my Doctor of Occupational Therapy degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I grew up in Arvada and currently live in Denver with my fianc\u00e9, Tim, and our dog, Norman.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0How did you get involved with\u00a0GiGi\u2019s?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
\nA:\u00a0\u00a0I got involved with\u00a0GiGi\u2019s\u00a0Playhouse as a volunteer with the Crawlers and Walkers program at the Chicago Playhouse\u00a0while attending UIC.\u00a0 It was such a rewarding experience.\u00a0\u00a0When I saw that Denver was launching their own Playhouse,\u00a0I immediately\u00a0filled out an interest form to volunteer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 Why\u2019s\u00a0GiGi\u2019s\u00a0Playhouse?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
\nA:\u00a0I love\u00a0GiGi\u2019s\u00a0message and mission of full acceptance and inclusion for all.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0 Can you share a favorite memory of your experience with the Playhouse?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>
\nA:\u00a0So far, my favorite part of\u00a0GiGi\u2019s\u00a0Playhouse Denver has been getting to meet and work with the startup team. The startup team is enthusiastic and determined to bring\u00a0GiGi\u2019s\u00a0Playhouse to Denver. I\u2019m thankful for their hard work and tenacity.\u00a0I can\u2019t wait until we open the doors and start working with local families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0\u00a0What does acceptance mean to you?\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"<\/span><\/b>
\nA:\u00a0Acceptance means respecting and appreciating all individuals, regardless of differences, disabilities, and\/or delays. Neurodiversity is important and beneficial to our society. Acceptance means full inclusion and involvement in all aspects of home, school, and community life.<\/span><\/p>\n
