October is a month of awareness, advocacy, and celebration for individuals with Down syndrome, and there\u2019s no better way to honor this important time than by highlighting our incredible community. As we recognize Down Syndrome Awareness Month, let\u2019s dive into how this GiGi\u2019s is making a meaningful impact with friends all over the community and how you can join the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding Down Syndrome Awareness Month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Down Syndrome Awareness Month is a time to educate, advocate, and celebrate the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. It\u2019s an opportunity to spread knowledge about the abilities and potential of people with Down syndrome, counter stereotypes, and promote acceptance. GiGi\u2019s Playhouse Deerfield embodies these principles through its mission and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.KidSnips<\/a>:<\/strong> This October, your haircut can make a difference! Throughout the month, KidSnips will be donating $1 for every haircut at any of the 7 locations, every Mon-Fri. Not only are they supporting the playhouse but they are sensory friendly for little ones who have a difficult time getting a haircut! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Board Room<\/a>:<\/b> Tucked away in the heart of Libertyville, The Board Room is the North Shore’s most enticing dining experience boasting shared plates, and craft cocktails in a socially luxurious atmosphere. In honor of DSAM, The Board Room Libertyville is featuring a Blueberry Mojito. $1 from every drink sold will be donated to the playhouse!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Jack-O-Lantern World:<\/a><\/strong> Whether you\u2019re 9, 39 or 99, everybody, seems to love Jack O\u2019Lantern World! Take a 1\/2 mile long walk through 4000 hand carved Jack O\u2019Lanterns included over 20 immersive worlds designed by award winning artisans. NEW this year is a Down syndrome themed pumpkin patch in honor of our loved ones and GiGi\u2019s Playhouse. GiGi\u2019s Deerfield is also running the beer tent throughout the month, come stop by during your walk or sign up to volunteer (sign up info below).
