Here is the report from our amazing GiGiFIT Adult Lead, Erin Alexeff!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TOGETHER, these 8 participants have worked over the last 12 weeks to collectively:<\/p>\n<p>lose <strong>15 pounds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>increase grip strength (measured by the dynamometer) by <strong>21.25lbs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>increase number of chest passes thrown in 1 minute by <strong>41 throws<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>increase number of standing marches in 1 minute by <strong>68 reps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>improve number of push-ups (using correct form) in 1 minute from <strong>77 total to 142 total<\/strong> (THAT IS A DIFFERENCE OF 65 COMBINED PUSH-UPS PEOPLE!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are some individual personal accomplishments that CANNOT go without mention.<\/p>\n<p><u>Seconds holding a plank position with proper form:\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Annie<\/strong> improved from 42 seconds to 73 seconds<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jennie<\/strong> improved from 21 seconds to 29 seconds<\/p>\n<p><em>(the reason we focus on this exercise is to increase trunk control, core stability, balance and upper body strength)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6560 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie-809x1024.jpg 809w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie-768x972.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie-1213x1536.jpg 1213w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Michelle-and-Annie.jpg 1279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 237px) 100vw, 237px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Number of push-ups completed in 1 minute with proper form:\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tony<\/strong> improved from 5 to 15 push-ups<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phil<\/strong> improved from 2 to 21 push-ups<\/p>\n<p><em>(this exercise is to increase upper body strength, core stability and trunk control)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Number of standing marches completed in 1 minute:\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Greg<\/strong> improved from 10 reps to 28 reps<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lee<\/strong> improved from 18 reps to 33 reps<\/p>\n<p><em>(this exercise is measured to keep track of improvement in balance, core strength and lower body strength)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hand grip measured by the dynamometer:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michelle<\/strong> improved from 27.9lbs to 37.2 lbs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy<\/strong> improved from 37.48lbs to 40.1lbs<\/p>\n<p><em>(this is an important measurement to track overall strength, as well as a little bit of self-confidence in exercise)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6561 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony-226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony-773x1024.jpg 773w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony-768x1018.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/cleveland\/files\/2020\/01\/Phil-and-Tony.jpg 1106w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a>As well as all these measurable improvements, this group of amazing individuals have worked very hard to establish a routine of working out, they have practiced teamwork through cheering on fellow participants, learned how to spot and support each other (i.e. holding hands\/exercise balls during squats) and established a culture of healthy eating at home, including drinking more water and incorporating more vegetables in every meal.<\/p>\n<p>I am so proud of each and every participant and how much they have grown!\u00a0 Some of my favorite &#8216;Best of All Moments&#8217; from this session:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phil leading the &#8216;step-claps&#8217; during warm ups with great enthusiasm<\/li>\n<li>Annie holding a 73 second plank with excellent form during a plank competition<\/li>\n<li>Tony perfecting his plank form and being able to hold a 17 second plank with a flat back<\/li>\n<li>Michelle transitioning from 15 squats with an exercise ball for assistance to 15 air squats to 15 squats holding a 6lb medicine ball at her chest!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I am excited for the life-changing experiences that will come with our next session of GiGiFIT!
