Volunteer Spotlight: Riley

Name:

Riley Fraedrich

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m going to Bowling Green State University this fall to major in Physical Therapy. I want to be able to help people with physical impairments more than I do now.

We want to get to know you! What are some of your favorites? (food, color, season, activity, restaurant, place to shop, etc.)

Favorite color is orange, favorite season is spring, favorite activity is running.

How did you learn about GiGi’s and what prompted you to become a volunteer?

My sister volunteers there and I met one of the participants through track who is involved in the program I lead.

Tell us more about what you do at the Playhouse!

I used to lead the GiGiFIT program and I am now training the new volunteers. I am also involved in the GiGi’s Kitchen program where I volunteer bi-weekly.

What is your favorite experience you have had at the Playhouse?

How much I have seen the participants grow throughout my time there. There is no specific moment I can pick out because I am so proud of everyone one of the participants in my program. One event that stands out is Tyler being able to run and even do a push-up on the ground for the first time.

Riley did an amazing job taking over leading GiGiFIT after Mr. Derick moved, and she has done a wonderful job supporting our incoming program leaders. We are so excited to see where the future takes you and appreciate all you have done for GiGi’s!

GiGiFIT introduces the key movements of foundational, hip strengthening, and vestibular/balance exercises, making them successful to implement and practice at any stage of life! This program focuses on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more. GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, pushing through barriers and building self-confidence.

Participants interested in GiGiFIT can expect fall session to start in September, with applications found at https://gigisplayhouse.org/canton/gigifit/.

Interested in becoming a GiGiFIT volunteer? Be sure to complete our volunteer interest form to let us know!
