Volunteer Spotlight: Amy

Name: Amy Zavarelli

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I have been a School Counselor for 17 years. I live in North Canton with my husband; Together we have 3 boys and 3 dogs!! In my spare time, I love to watch sports and spend time with friends.

We want to get to know you! What are some of your favorites? (food, color, season, activity, restaurant, place to shop, etc.)

My favorite season is Summer – especially since I am off for 8 weeks. I love to watch sports – especially the Buckeyes, Browns, CAVS and Guardians. I love to shop at Marshall’s! I love Chick Fil A and Benders in downtown Canton. Recently, my family and I have enjoyed learning to play pickleball.

How did you learn about GiGi’s and what prompted you to become a volunteer?

I learned about GiGi’s when my best friend, Stacy, shared with me that she wanted to help open the Canton location. Her daughter, Maleah, has Down syndrome and also goes to my school! Fundraising has always been somewhat of a hobby of mine, so I became involved with the CLE Keys event and have been on the committee for the last 5 years. It is one of my favorite nights of the year!

Tell us more about what you do at the Playhouse!

I am the co-chair of the upcoming “A Night Out With the CLE Keys” event! It is GiGi’s Playhouse Canton’s largest fundraising event of the year, full of inspiration and celebration of acceptance, dinner, dessert, dancing, top-shelf open bar, online silent auction, raffles, and more! We couldn’t have such an amazing night without our committee and volunteers!

What is your favorite experience you have had at the Playhouse?

My favorite moment related to the Playhouse was hearing Nancy Gianni and THE GiGi speak at last year’s event. They are both so genuine, inspiring, and fun! Her message truly reminded everyone the reason behind all that we do; to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all!

Amy – thank you for all the hard work you put in to making this a successful event year after year! Your efforts truly make this event one of a kind, and we appreciate all you do! Want to know how you can thank Amy for her support? Join us at A Night Out with the Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos! This is an evening you won’t want to miss, full of celebration and acceptance along with dinner, dessert, an open bar, live entertainment and dancing, silent auction, 50/50 and Yeti Cooler raffles, and more!
