Volunteer Spotlight: Jessi

Tell us a little bit about yourself. 

I am the mom of 3 kids, Blaiden (9) Adilene (7) who has Down syndrome, and Kallie (4). I am married to Fred. I am from Colorado but have lived in Ohio for the last 10 years. 

We want to get to know you! What are some of your favorites? (food, color, season, activity, restaurant, place to shop, etc.) 

Thai and Mexican are my favorite foods! I love the color aqua, spring in Ohio is my all-time favorite because of all the blooms! I love being outdoors and spending time with my family. I enjoy all sports and have recently learned I enjoy playing golf. 

How did you learn about GiGi’s and what prompted you to become a volunteer? 

I learned of GiGi’s Playhouse Canton just a few months before it opened. I was so excited to hear that a GiGi’s was coming to our area and wanted to get involved right away. 

What is your role at the Playhouse? 

I first became part of the Ladies Night Out fundraiser then in 2020, became the volunteer coordinator and recently joined the Board. 

What is your favorite experience you have had at the Playhouse? 

Every time I come to the Playhouse it is my favorite experience. I meet so many people who give so much to make this Playhouse run and it is truly inspiring to see our volunteers interact with our participants. I also love that I have never seen someone leave without a smile on their face, it is such an amazing place to be! 

GiGi’s Playhouse is a volunteer-run organization and we rely on the skill and dedication of volunteers of various levels of expertise to keep our programs vibrant, educational, fun and free.
