The Importance of Early Intervention and Programs at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo
At GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo, we believe every child and adult deserve the opportunity to thrive, grow, and shine in their own unique way. For families of children with Down syndrome, early intervention can make a world of difference and that’s exactly why our free programs are here.
From the moment a family first walks through our doors, they discover a place filled with acceptance, encouragement, and resources designed to support their child’s development at every stage.
Why Early Intervention Matters
Research shows that the earlier a child with Down syndrome receives targeted support, the stronger their outcomes can be in areas like communication, motor skills, learning, and social development. Early intervention helps to:
- Build a foundation for lifelong learning.
- Improve language and speech development.
- Strengthen motor skills needed for daily activities.
- Boost confidence and independence.
- Support families with tools, guidance, and community connection.
At GiGi’s Playhouse, we’re committed to providing these opportunities free of charge, because every family deserves access without barriers.
Programs That Make a Difference
Our programs are purposeful, fun, and carefully designed to support individuals with Down syndrome at every age and stage. Lisa Canna, is our amazing lead teacher for all these programs. We are so thankful for all she does.

A few examples of our programs include:
- LMNOP (Language, Music, N’ Our Peeps) – Introduces infants and toddlers to language development through music and movement.
- Leaps & Bounds is a play-based program for children that focuses on success in preschool and kindergarten. Students will participate in fun and engaging activities that provide opportunities for following routines, small group participation, movement and interaction with their environment. Family members are key participants in this program and will encourage their child to reach his or her Best of All throughout each session.
- GiGiFIT You and I is a program that combines fitness with relationship-building and social connection for caregivers and their infants. It focuses on introducing caregivers to GiGiFIT concepts for their infants and themselves, promoting the physical well-being of participants through movement while fostering a strong community among families.
- GiGiFIT Preschoolers takes concepts of foundational movements, mobility activities, visual-vestibular activities, and reflex integration to the next level in a fast-paced, super fun and socially interactive atmosphere for young children who have recently mastered the ability to walk on their own.
Each program is more than just an activity, it’s a step toward building skills, friendships, and confidence that last a lifetime.
🌈 More Than Programs: A Community of Support
Families often share that GiGi’s feels like a second home. That’s because our programs aren’t just about learning, they’re about connection. Parents find support, children find new friends, and siblings discover a community that understands and celebrates them.
When you walk into GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo, you’ll see smiles, laughter, and meaningful growth happening every day.
