A Gift from Just For You CardArt

We are excited to introduce you to Donna and Jenna, who are joining us for this year’s ‘I have a voice’ Gala. Eight years ago, they decided to start a business together called Just For You CardArt. The business debuted on July 16, 2010 at the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention (NDSC) in Orlando, Florida, where they attended the Youth and Adult self-advocates conference and had an exhibit booth to show and sell their CardArt. They continue to make cards today and give back to the organizations that they care about, including Gigi’s Playhouse Atlanta! Both Donna and Jenna have volunteered at our Midtown location and are excited to do something special for us. This year, we commissioned them to make cards just for our Gala attendees and they said yes! That’s right, everyone will receive one handmade card in their goodie bag.

The beginning of Just for You CardArt by Donna and Jenna

Donna’s mother, Rita, had a great hobby. She created cards. The girls liked to help her stamp and decorate them. For years people told Rita her cards were pieces of art and she should start her own business. Donna and Jenna liked the idea so much, they took it on! With Rita’s help, they began creating their own cards and then launched their business. Their cards are truly works of art. Every card is handmade with no two cards exactly alike.

Donna graduated in 2011. During the week, Donna does community work at Huntcliff Assisted Living, is active in her church youth group and in the Johns Creek Tuesday night socials. She competes in Special Olympic swimming and Master’s Bowling. Donna is also active with past and present fundraising events. She had the opportunity to model and “strut her stuff” on the red carpet at one fundraiser. She has an older sister, Liz, who is a special education teacher. In January 2018, Donna became an aunt for the first time! Her brother, Sam, is completing his first year of medical school.

Jenna graduated from Tucker High School in 2014. She works at Applebee’s doing food prep and is a community builder where she has been the co-chair of the Culture Festival’s Culture Village for the past two years. Jenna loves to host gatherings and connect people with each other. Jenna’s other passion is performing. She is a member of a dance company and has performed two opening solos for her teacher’s professional dance company. She is working on her first choreographed dance which she hopes to perform soon!

In addition to their community work, Donna and Jenna support Lekotek of Georgia, Adult Disabilities Medical Home and Zena Warrior Puppy by donating their greeting cards at various fundraiser events.

Donna and Jenna want everyone to know that all people have gifts and talents to share. Just check out their website at www.justforyoucardart.com! Be sure to like Just for You CardArt on Facebook.
