2022 SKate Award Winners

Our 2022 Gala was a great success! In addition to the most money we’ve raised so far, our SKate Award winners were hands down the most inspirational!

Nic Taylor & Elana Meyers Taylor have been champions of bobsledding and champions of GiGi’s Playhouse.  They travel and compete internationally, always giving recognition to GiGi’s and the impact it has made on their family.  While the world knows them as global athletes, we know them simply as Nico’s parents. They enter our Playhouse with the same needs and concerns as all our other families. They are looking for support, acceptance, and community.

As they received their award, Elana spoke about the impact GiGi’s has made on their lives with Nico. When he was born, our Education Director, Kim Knight, was one of the first to reach out to the Taylor family who told them about GiGi’s and how to be involved. They leaned on GiGi’s throughout the pandemic with virtual therapies and programs and it was GiGi’s who was one of the first locations available for in-person therapy for Nico. Because of this supportive community, Elana jumped at the chance to place a GiGi’s Playhouse sticker on her helmet to make GiGi’s name known worldwide! She proclaimed, “It’s been the hugest honor of my life to represent more than something than myself.”

Nic’s message to our Gala attendees was “Family First”, the Taylor family moto.  “Whenever we’re in doubt, whenever we have a tough decision to make, we just put our family first and everything works out.” He addressed the attendees as part of his family and thanked them for supporting the “awesome, awesome family that GiGi’s is.”

We are so honored to have the Taylors as part of the GiGi’s Atlanta family and we can’t wait to see Nico grow along with our programs!
