GiGi Prep Drive Gathers 260 lbs. of Food
Food Drive signs and collection boxes throughout the building where GiGi’s Annapolis is housed drew attention to the increasing need for sharing with our county residents who face food insecurity. GiGi Prep students Hayley Chapin, Madeline Mykins, John Kelly, Doc Strong, Laila Brown, and Emily Tuttle took on the project spearheaded by GiGi Prep co-lead, Terence McNally, to assist the Anne Arundel County Food Bank that provided food to 3.6 million households in 2025. Their mobile pantry delivered fresh and non-perishable items to 10,000 people as part of the 4,533,273 pounds of food and basic necessities the Food Bank distributed last year.
The GiGi Prep students checked every item they collected for expirations dates, sorted, and boxed donations for delivery to the Food Bank. Students were accompanied by volunteers Terence, Kathy, Joan, Lynn, Sue, and Chris. After unloading, they toured the facility and learned how donations are prepared for the 77+ distribution centers across the county.
