Volunteer Spotlight – J.P. Hedges

As many of you know, volunteers are the heartbeat of GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis. Whether it be helping us write birthday cards, providing support for one of our purposeful programs, or spending an hour a week to be a literacy or math tutor, we appreciate every minute that our volunteers give to the Playhouse. We are PROUD to introduce you to our volunteer spotlight, J.P. Hedges! J.P. has been volunteering at our Playhouse this past summer. He has spent numerous Saturday afternoons assisting with Playhouse Pals and Kids Club. He has also assisted with our summer carnival and teen programs. When J.P. comes to the Playhouse, he is always ready to help anywhere that he is needed and his positive energy is contagious!

“My favorite part is playing and interacting with all the participants and volunteers. I love that I’ve had the opportunity to meet all sorts of wonderful new friends since I started volunteering with GiGi’s.” -J.P.

J.P. is the oldest child of four and often helps with his younger siblings. We see his big brother skills come in handy when he interacts with our participants. He started volunteering with GiGi’s Playhouse because he has a family friend with Down syndrome that participates in programs at GiGi’s Playhouse. J.P. was looking for a place to give back to the community and decided to serve here at GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis. We are so lucky that he chose us!

We asked J.P. what he would tell people who are thinking about volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse.

“It is an incredibly welcoming and genuine community. People of all backgrounds are welcomed at GiGi’s, which creates a very fun atmosphere for both participants and volunteers. Volunteering with GiGi’s Playhouse is the most fulfilling working experience I have ever had.”

GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis is incredibly grateful for J.P. and all of our other dedicated volunteers.
