Who Will You Run, Walk or Dash For?|Team Bella|GiGi’s Playhouse 2016 5K

Time of another fun and inspiring GiGi’s Playhouse 2016 5k blog post! We are so happy to turn todays  post over to our Self Advocate of the Year, Amy Cavallaro.  Every day Amy works hard to make her community and herself better. She shows kindness and respect to everyone she encounters and she is always looking for ways to make GiGi’s Playhouse Syracuse even more fun for the kids! We love Amy’s spirit and how she lives out Generation G!

GiGi's Playhouse 2016 5k

Team Bella is my team and  I am representing myself!  I named my team after my new puppy.  This is not my first GiGi’s Playhouse Syracuse 5k, I have participated three times to help and support GiGi’s Playhouse and to inspire myself and other teammates to reach there goals!  It is important to me to support GiGi’s Playhouse Syracuse because it helps and encourages people to be apart of GiGi’s Playhouse. It is important to the Syracuse community because it provides a place for individuals with Down syndrome to come to be involved and experience themselves, like when we learn new skills or make our skills stronger. My favorite memory took place at at the ‘i have a Voice’ gala when I gave a speech on using my voice to advocate for myself and my friends and also when I received an award for Self Advocate of the Year. My team fundraising goal is $500.00. I will reach this goal by working hard and getting donations from friends and family.  I would love to talk about  Down syndrome awareness, I really believe that having Down syndrome is a wonderful thing I really hope that people who have Down syndrome realize how important they are that is what I am going to do!
