Thank You, Interns!

IMG_4808 (640x427)This summer you may have seen me at the playhouse helping with programs or in the back office. My name is Haylee and I am a student at Augustana College where this summer I was given the opportunity to intern at the Playhouse. From June to mid-August I worked with Michelle on marketing and outreach. At first, I thought I would be back in the office all day and wouldn’t be able to see or hangout with all the kids, but I found out quickly that I was wrong. This internship was so much more than I expected, I got to assist in programs and become friends with many of the students here in addition to my work with Michelle. I got the full GiGi’s experience and can’t wait to apply what I have learned at GiGi’s to my future endeavors. I will definitely be back to volunteer and see everyone, the GiGi’s Quad Cities community is truly a special one. Thank you to Michelle, Kelly, and all of the families for welcoming me with such open arms and making my summer such a fun one.

See you soon!

IMG_4886 (640x427)My name is Emily McGloin and I am a speech-language pathology student who graduated from Augustana. In the fall I will be attending University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee to continue my studies. I worked at GiGi’s Playhouse during my last semester and summer in the quad cities. My experience at GiGi’s Playhouse is something I will never forget.  I worked as a tutor and helped out at other events like Friday Friends, Reading and Recipes, and Friends Fun & Fitness. Working with the students gave me such joy. I would smile all day after helping a student learn a new word or after a student would make a new connection to their learning.  I am so happy I had the opportunity to help others at GiGi’s. I learned so much and I can’t wait to apply my new knowledge in my future as an SLP.  Thank you to all those who come to GiGi’s Playhouse!  You all made my experience incredible.
